Carolina Meadows, a continuing care retirement community in Chapel Hill NC is searching for a vital finance and accounting position which will position the community through upcoming personnel transitions the result of planned retirements. Position Summary - Senior AccountantThis position is primarily responsible for accounting functions and internal accounting control for Carolina Meadows, Inc. and three related companies as delegated by the CFO.
Responsibilities- Provides leadership, analysis, reporting, and general business support for financial processes.
- Assists with financial closing procedures for month and quarter closings.
- Works collaboratively with internal customers (including Leadership as well as the Executive Team) to properly analyze and interpret financial results.
- Works closely with the Payroll Specialist and serves as a back up for the payroll function for three companies.
- Accounting and Report for Fixed Assets.
- Physician Practice accounting and reporting.
- Financial statement and general ledger compilation and analysis.
- Assists with annual audit support.
- Shares cross training and process improvement responsibilities for:
- Accounts Payable,
- Billing/Accounts Receivable, and
- Payroll.
Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related accounting experience is required, including experience in an accounting department setting, with payroll, accounts payable and billing/collections knowledge, preferred.
- Experience in public accounting (audit) a plus.
- Experience with senior living and/or non-profit accounting preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented coupled with strong analytical, documentation and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with senior living software systems MatrixCare a plus.
