Position Overview

The Senior Accountant provides timely, accurate, and actionable financial information to support management, shareholders, and other users in making strategic decisions. You will assist with financial reporting, reconciliations, corporate compliance, audits, and grant management, while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and transparency across all accounting processes.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience preferred
  • Healthcare or grant accounting experience preferred.

  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls

Primary Duties

  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for monthly financial statements
  • Assist in preparing supporting schedules for annual audits, statutory filings, operating budgets, and grant reporting
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of volume, revenue, expenses, and component units
  • Track, monitor, and report grant activity accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare bank ACH and wire transactions
  • Review bank reconciliations, daily deposits, and account reconciliations prepared by others
  • Analyze monthly benefit invoices for accuracy, prepare supporting schedules, and upload to vendors
  • Generate accounts receivable invoices for related parties and grants
  • Perform other finance-related duties as assigned

Key Responsibilities (10-Core)

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including journal entries and supporting schedules; identify and resolve variances between actual and budgeted results
  • Review and prepare cash activities, including auditing daily deposits and preparing monthly cash reports
  • Review and prepare account reconciliations to ensure balances and transactions are accurately recorded; post journal entries as needed
  • Prepare schedules and analyses to support related parties as requested
  • Assist with corporate tax compliance and ensure timely and accurate completion of all corporate returns and filings
  • Prepare required analyses and schedules for grant submissions
  • Support audits, including annual financial audits, benefit audits, workers' compensation audits, and other audits as needed
  • Provide backup support to other accounting areas, including Accounts Payable and Payroll
  • Participate in special projects and prepare a variety of financial reports
