Tax Associate

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our Chicago-based US tax team. In this role, you will support a variety of corporate tax functions, including tax provision (ASC 740), federal and state compliance, and operational tax matters. You'll have the opportunity to build foundational tax skills while learning from experienced professionals in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

This position offers strong growth potential and exposure to both the technical and practical aspects of tax within a global trading firm.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with preparing tax provision calculations and reconciliations under ASC 740.
  • Prepare federal and state estimated tax calculations.
  • Coordinate with external advisors to support US and international tax compliance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of sales, use, and lease tax filings.
  • Support responses to tax notices and audit requests.
  • Assist with drafting tax technical memos.
  • Gather data and prepare documentation to support R&D credit claims.
  • Work with Finance to maintain accurate tax data in the general ledger.
  • Maintain clear, organized notes from tax meetings and discussions.
  • Help prepare quarterly tax reports for senior leadership, highlighting key developments and metrics.
  • Perform ad hoc tax research and analysis as needed.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 1-2 years of public accounting experience, including exposure to ASC 740.
  • CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Solid Excel skills and an interest in working with data.
  • Able to manage tasks independently while working as part of a collaborative team.
  • Clear and concise communicator, both written and verbal.
