The Accounting Assistant provides accounting support and processes accounts payable for the county. In addition, the position provides backup support in other areas of the office. The person may specialize in one area but is expected to develop advanced competency and provide service in several areas.
Essential Duties
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budget documents, and use tax.
Prepare monthly use tax including gathering documents reportable to DOR, compiling and filing monthly use tax report.
Annual processing of 1099’s, W-9’s and working with vendors to obtain required information
Analyze vendor reports for accuracy before uploading to 1099 reporting software.
Unclaimed property reporting to DOR after analyzing warrant activity, communicating with other departments or districts, and sending due diligence letters for uncashed warrants.
